Help! I don’t like being on camera! | The C List, Ep. 5

If you hate being on camera, you’re not alone. Many people get freaked out when there’s a camera staring back at them, but there are ways to overcome the anxiety that the camera can cause.

First, there’s no rule that says you have to be on camera during any of your videos. You can narrate the video without showing your face. Focus the camera on products and provide details as you create your video without ever having to show your face.

Second, ask an employee or trusted friend if they’re willing to be the face of your business. If they agree, create videos featuring that person as they talk about the services and products your business has to offer.

Finally, if you want to be on camera but need a little help increasing your comfort level, try thinking of the camera as a person. In fact, you can ask a friend to stand behind the camera, allowing you to look at them and talk directly to them instead of to the camera. This can “make the camera disappear” creating content that’s more conversational.
